Winter Park wins second FCSL title over Leesburg

In the Florida Collegiate Summer League title game last week at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs wrapped up an impressive season with a 1-0 win over the Leesburg Lightning in front of 639 fans. Pitcher Nick Goody was named most valuable player.



Meet league leaders as FCSL enters all-star game

Two teams are leaving the FCSL pack behind with less than a month left to be played. The Sanford River Rats (21-8) currently hold a half-game lead on the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (20-8). Wednesday’s all-star game starts at 7 p.m. in Sanford.



Apopka’s Beary a College World Series champion

When the College World Series ended late Tuesday night at Rosenblatt Stadium, Apopka High School alum Robert Beary bottled up handfuls of infield dirt from the historic site after his first season at South Carolina was capped off with a national championship win.

It’s end of road for Timber Creek baseball at states

The season came to an abrupt end for the Timber Creek baseball team as they dropped an 8-4 decision to Pembroke Pines Flanagan at the state semifinals in Port St. Lucie on Friday night. The Wolves were outhit 14-9 and trailed 5-0 after five innings.
