Magic sign Duhon, stumble in Pro Summer League

Looking to add a little depth to its backcourt, the Orlando Magic signed free agent guard Chris Duhon last week while the team’s pro summer league squad finished just 1-4 after Patrick Ewing and the team hosted opposing teams at RDV Sportsplex.

The Orlando Magic added two players to its roster through the 2010 NBA Draft on Thursday night. The Magic took Kentucky center Daniel Orton in the first round with the 29th overall pick and Connecticut forward Stanley Robinson in the second round at No. 59 overall.

It’s too early to tell just how much will change with the Magic entering the 2010-11 season. That was hardly what mattered earlier today though, as the Magic organization took to the streets of Orlando to thank fans for another season of support.



NBA All-Star celebration comes to Orlando in 2012

The most magical week in sports is returning to Orlando for the second time, as the city has been selected to host NBA All-Star 2012 at the new Amway Center. Orlando last hosted the game in 1992 when Magic Johnson was named MVP.



Playoff Magic – A drinking season for all to enjoy

Hard to believe it’s been more than a week since brooms were being raised by locals – many of whom don’t watch hoops to begin with – in between high-fives at sports bars throughout town following the Orlando Magic’s Game 4 win over Charlotte last Monday.

Local pro sports teams are hosting a variety of events throughout the area over the next two months as the Predators hold tryouts, the Titans put on a lacrosse clinic, and the Magic keep kids busy over spring break with basketball camps.

Thanks to the Orlando Magic, even the most hardened competitors on the basketball court might have grown a bit misty-eyed watching the joyous smiles of kids getting presents and bicycles on what might have otherwise been a lean holiday season.

Before the NBA preseason got underway this month members of the Orlando Magic participated in the 18th annual Championship for Charity Golf Tournament at Reunion Resort where more than $250,000 was raised for the Orlando Magic Youth Fund (OMYF).
