For the young ballplayers who recently accepted their high school diplomas, the decision is now whether to start collegiate playing careers or join minor league baseball teams. For current underclassmen hailing from nearby, the decision is a similar one to make.



Mayor’s Cup Trophy swept by Rollins College Tars

Rollins College swept the top Sunshine State Conference honors for the third time in school history when they were awarded the Mayor’s Cup Trophy for both men’s and women’s sports. The award recognizes the top programs among the conference’s nine schools.



Rollins College women’s golf are runners-up in D-II

The women’s golf team at Rollins College took runner-up at the NCAA Division II National Championships last week at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. It’s the eighth-straight season the Tars have placed at the event. They won Division II titles from 2003-06 and in 2008.



Rollins wins SSC title, advances to D-II tournament

Following a 66-59 win over Barry in the Sunshine State Conference title game, the No. 17 Rollins men’s basketball team makes its ninth trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Myk Brown earned SSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.



Wolf continues to lead No. 18 Rollins College hoops

Recent wins over Barry and Tampa a week ago kept the men’s basketball team at Rollins College – ranked No. 18 in Division II – atop the Sunshine State Conference standings with a 20-4 mark overall and an 11-2 record in league play.



Win over #14 Tampa propels Rollins women hoops

A week ago the women’s basketball team at Rollins College upended No. 14 Tampa after three previous attempts to notch a win against a Division II Top-25 team. The Lady Tars currently sit at No. 2 in the Sunshine State Conference.



Nick Wolf goes back-to-back for Rollins College

For the second straight week, Rollins College junior guard Nick Wolf earned Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors (for the fourth time in his career) following big outings for the No. 20 Tars basketball team.



Rollins downs #2 Florida Southern in final seconds

The 2009-10 men’s basketball season is turning into an interesting one for Rollins College as the Tars earned their biggest win since upending No. 1 Tampa by one point way back in 1987 when they downed No. 2 Florida Southern on Saturday.



Rollins women lone local soccer team left at NCAAs

Michelle Dillingham recorded nine saves as the Rollins women’s soccer team advanced to the third round of the Division II Tournament for the second year in a row. Over the weekend, both the UCF women and Rollins men made early tourney exits.
