It’s been said that records are made to be broken. Last month Lake Howell senior Lauren Adkins set the school’s new career mark in kills by surpassing the 1,023 by former player of the year Ruthie King.



Lake Mary boys win SAC golf tournament

The Lake Mary boys golf team overcame difficult weather conditions at Deer Run last Wednesday to win the Seminole Athletic Conference Tournament. Lake Brantley finished second, followed by Winter Springs and Hagerty.

Last Friday Seminole handled Winter Springs 23-0 as Deron Thompson rushed for 66 yards and went 7-of-11 for 75 yards and a touchdown. Winter Springs turned around and got a win on the road on Thursday against Lyman 49-28.

Winter Park went for over 300 yards of offense against Winter Springs last Friday night as the Wildcats opened the high school football season with a 19-6 win. Two long drives which led to touchdowns in the second half for Winter Park sealed the game.



Lake Mary boys golf reloaded for state title defense

There will be a few new faces on the links in 2010 for the Lake Mary boys golf team as the 2009 FHSAA Class 2A champs look to defend their title. Last season the Rams won the program’s third state championship since 2004 by an eight-stroke advantage at Silver Spring Shores.
