Once the high school track season comes to a close, Boone’s Marvin Bracy will be competing against some of the country’s best in the Dream 100 race at the adidas Grand Prix on June 11 in New York City.

The 30th Annual Great Florida Shootout will be held Dec. 27-30 at Osceola Heritage Park’s Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee. The four-day tournament features 16 teams from across the nation.

Just as it did a year ago, the annual East-West Orange County Senior Bowl came down to the final play of the game Wednesday night. Kyle Herrera’s 34-yard field goal won it for the East 20-17.

The improbable run at a bowling state title for the Wekiva boys team ended in the finals on Wednesday at Boardwalk Bowl in East Orlando. The Mustangs entered as the No. 12 seed before finishing runners-up.

Call it the Clash of the District 4 Titans. That’s essentially what next week’s meeting between Timber Creek and Winter Park will be at Showalter Field on Friday, Oct. 9. The winner of that game is likely to wrap up the four-team Class 6A-4 title, leaving the loser to fend off University (2-2) and Colonial (0-4) later in the season for a spot in the playoffs.

After wrestling with Boone the week before in a triple-overtime thriller that resulted in the Wolves coming out on the wrong end, Timber Creek (2-1) nearly let another game get by them this past Friday.
