East Beats West In Orange County Senior Bowl

Just as it did a year ago, the annual East-West Orange County Senior Bowl came down to the final play of the game Wednesday night. Kyle Herrera’s 34-yard field goal won it for the East 20-17.

TCHS Senior Bowler Mandell Takes Third At States

Timber Creek senior Justin Mandell entered the high school bowling state tournament as the top-seed in individual bracket play but one of his better efforts was not quite good enough to advance to the finals.



Timber Creek boys, Olympia girls win golf regions

The boys and girls golf teams at Olympia High School qualified for the Class 2A state finals next week. Timber Creek won a close boys regional over the Titans while the Olympia girls won big over Edgewater.



TCHS’s Quiroga grows into leader on golf course

Felipe Quiroga has spent much of his prep career in the shadows of older teammates at Timber Creek. In his senior season, though, the defending district champion is now the leader and lone upperclassman on a roster freshmen and sophomores.



TCHS bowlers return with unfinished business

Last year, the Timber Creek boys bowling team took the long way around the state tournament before eventually reaching the finals against Mainland, where they came away as runners-up. What stung most was that the Wolves underperformed at the most crucial part of the year.



Four teams feature local players at World Series

Later this week the College World Series begins, on Saturday, June 19. And while area teams such as UCF and Stetson will not be taking part, it doesn’t mean Central Florida players have been left out. Florida and Florida State have a combined eight locals on baseball rosters.



Local baseball products drafted by MLB teams

For the young ballplayers who recently accepted their high school diplomas, the decision is now whether to start collegiate playing careers or join minor league baseball teams. For current underclassmen hailing from nearby, the decision is a similar one to make.
