Winter Park and Orlando Christian Prep slipped up last week at the City of Palms Classic at Bishop Verot High School in Fort Meyers. Winter Park finsihed fourth and OCP won the consolation final.

The reigning three-time Class 1A state champions at OCP are out to a 4-1 start to the 2010-11 season after losing big in the Rotary Tip-Off Classic title game to Winter Park 74-40 over the weekend.

It took a little extra effort over the last few minutes on Saturday night before the UCF Knights could put away a pesky in-state foe at UCF Arena. The Knights overcame 18 turnovers to down Bethune-Cookman, 63-50, at UCF Arena.

The annual Rotary Tip-Off Classic in Winter Park has seen its share of remarkable high school basketball talent over the last three decades. Add Austin Rivers of Winter Park to that list. Just be sure not to leave out his teammates in the process.

Dr. Phillips opened the new season with a dominating 77-45 win over defending Class 6A state champion Miami Coral Reef at the inaugural Hoops Mountain Hoops Feast last Saturday at West Orange High School.
