Four teams feature local players at World Series

Later this week the College World Series begins, on Saturday, June 19. And while area teams such as UCF and Stetson will not be taking part, it doesn’t mean Central Florida players have been left out. Florida and Florida State have a combined eight locals on baseball rosters.

Lake Mary sweeps golf state championships

Last week the golf teams at Lake Mary swept through the Class 2A state tournament as both the boys and girls high school squads came away with team titles in Marion County while the Class 1A finals featured solid finishes from Trinity Prep and Lake Highland Prep.

The boys and girls high school golf teams at Timber Creek and Olympia continued their march towards the state tournament this week as all four squads won their respective district tournaments after already taking Metro Conference titles.



Boone forges on with landslide win over Gateway

If only last week was half as leisurely as Friday night was for the Boone Braves. Following the humiliation they experienced on the football field on the road against Winter Park, the Braves got a taste of what the other end of such a game was like as they opened up Class 6A, District 6 play with a 49-13 win over a Kissimmee Gateway program currently under construction.
