Just as it did a year ago, the annual East-West Orange County Senior Bowl came down to the final play of the game Wednesday night. Kyle Herrera’s 34-yard field goal won it for the East 20-17.

With two holes to get past at the state golf tournament last year, Ashley Holder was 5-under par as the individual title lay within reach. She would find trouble at the 17th hole, though, and finish in a three-way tie for third overall as a freshman.

Last week the golf teams at Lake Mary swept through the Class 2A state tournament as both the boys and girls high school squads came away with team titles in Marion County while the Class 1A finals featured solid finishes from Trinity Prep and Lake Highland Prep.

The boys and girls high school golf teams at Timber Creek and Olympia continued their march towards the state tournament this week as all four squads won their respective district tournaments after already taking Metro Conference titles.
