Boone seniors shine brightest in 17-14 East win

With the final swing of his leg, in the last high school football game of young life, Boone’s Lucas Rawlings helped the East Seniors cap a come-from-behind 17-14 win in the annual Orange County Senior Bowl on Wednesday at Oak Ridge High School.



Orlando Sports Central Standouts – 11/25/09

A former Apopka baseball player won a Cy Young Award, two former Colonial High School football players starred for FAMU, a Winter Park running back scored the game-winner in the opening round of the playoffs and a women’s basketball and volleyball player at UCF come up big.



Timber Creek keeps season alive with district win

Timber Creek took the lead for good on Friday night when Cameron Smith bulldozed his way to the goal line on a 10-yard run. The Wolves then eventually got the 20-14 win when they held on down the stretch at home against Colonial.



Extra points: Oak Ridge over Colonial

Last week Oak Ridge had little trouble with visiting Colonial on the football field as the Pioneers got big plays from teammates on both sides of the ball in a 40-12 win. Among the contributors were a transfer at quarterback, a senior defensive leader at linebacker and several underclassman making names for themselves.



Bowlers at TCHS and Colonial reach perfection

It’s not everyday you wake up and successfully embark on a journey of perfection. In fact many of us hardly come close to such a mark often times. But perfection is what senior Roberto Ramos of Timber Creek and freshman William Duen of Colonial attained last month as both bowled perfect games for their respective high school bowling teams.



Games starting to count for area football teams

Call it the Clash of the District 4 Titans. That’s essentially what next week’s meeting between Timber Creek and Winter Park will be at Showalter Field on Friday, Oct. 9. The winner of that game is likely to wrap up the four-team Class 6A-4 title, leaving the loser to fend off University (2-2) and Colonial (0-4) later in the season for a spot in the playoffs.



West Orange football basking in early season success
