Life is filled with wins and losses. It’s evident in nearly everything we take part in. From the day we’re born through the day we die. What gets clouded often times though is our appreciation for even getting the chance to participate in the first place.

I’ve been covering local sports throughout the Orlando area on a regular basis since 2005. Even working with local sports teams and organizations well before that. For my efforts, I’ve earned several writing awards through the Florida Press Association, Florida Press Club and Society of Professional Journalists.

But it’s not the awards I’m most thankful for. Not when the job market continues to shrink and pessimism is so widespread in the world of journalism. I’ll always feel fortunate for getting the chance to play in the first place. And here’s hoping I never lose focus of that.

Through the years I’ve met many great people who have shared just as many great stories. From those participating in youth and high school sports to college and professional sports, there are individuals shaping the Central Florida landscape in some form or another through athletics.

What Orlando Sports Central hopes to accomplish is to celebrate those stories and bring them to your desktop throughout the year. And we want you to play a part in it too.
