Road Trip – Pro Football Hall of Fame Weekend

Updated Aug. 7 @ 9 p.m. –

What a way to kick off the football season. Each year the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio is the place where it all begins each August. It’s where pro football was born. Where legends of the game are immortalized.

With each new class come inspirational stories of its inductees. As fascinating as it is to rehash the careers of all-time leading receiver Jerry Rice and all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith, it’s the historical perspective provided by old-timers like Dick LeBeau and Floyd Little that remind us how far this game has come. It’s the careers of gritty guys like Rickey Jackson, John Randle and Russ Grimm which drives home the fact that winning and losing comes down to so much more than running the ball and catching passes.

When these former greats were set to be inducted into the hall on Saturday night, Steelers, Lions and Broncos descended upon northeast Ohio. 49ers and Saints got reacquainted. And Cowboys played nice with Redskins, even if only for a few hours.

On Friday the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2010 meet with members of the media before ringing the closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange remotely from the Hall of Fame grounds. On Saturday at 7 p.m. Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson Dick LeBeau, Floyd Little, John Randle, Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith were inducted into the hall.
